Page Rank is a rank given to any website/blog/forum on the web.The rank is given on a scale of 10 .Most of blogs on internet have a PR 0 , even www.qwertyweb.blogspot.com had 0 PR at the beginning and and now it has jumped to PR 2 ! right after four months of its creation !
The picture above is simple illustration and it shows how the page rank is calculated. The yellow smiley has the highest PR among all the different color smileys , this is because it is linked with most of the smileys while small green color smiley has lower PR because it is linked to only one smiley .But if red color smiley links to yellow smiley than PR of red will increase coz the smiley it has linked is high on PR , not in case of green coz it has linked up with another green one having less PR than the yellow one!
So try to be the YELLOW one !
So far the only website that I have encountered with a Page Rank of 10 is Google, even Yahoo and Bing are 7 -8
A good page rank is a very good way of telling the importance of a website to some one especially an advertiser as that is a full-form proof.Its always great of any website having PR higher it displays the effect of that website over web .
Google page rank plays a very important role in SEO ie Search Engine Optimization along with Do-Follow links , Alexa rank , link building and commenting on other high PR sites .

Great info. I was just surprised and glad to see my site at Sell Your Mobile has become PR2. Even though they say not to concentrate on gaining PR but rather to focus on quality link building it's still nice to see to show something for all your hard work.

Bringing page ranking to your site requires lot of SEO and back linking works. Apart from all these the main factor responsible for page ranking and driving traffic is updating your site with unique contents.

Well PR is important because its like the measuring tool of how successful your site is. But increasing your PR is not that easy because there are a lot of competition out there. You need SEO to help increase your PR because it is one way of driving traffic to your site. Thanks for this information! I checked my PR above and it says 4.
